Positive: The owner was excellent and looked after me well. Apartment is compact and easy to live in. Everything I needed to live was there. Even the TV and Netflix worked. Bonus. Very close walk to local SM mall that has everything you need. It used to be the largest mall in the Philippines. 2 laundromats are just outside the building but can't find anyone that does ironing, Asked the owner and she provided an iron. There is security at the entrance to the building. Say hello and be nice every time you leave or enter the building and they will look after you well. GRAB drivers aren't allowed into the building, at least that's what the drivers say, so you need to meet them just out front of the entrance doors. Excellent place to stay if it is your first time in the Philippines. The location makes it easy for getting used to the place. I extended my stay for another week. There are armed security officer's EVERYWHERE in the Philippines. I mean EVERYWHERE. Do not be scared of them. They are there for your protection. Say hello to them as you pass by. I even have conversations with them. They are normal people who are generally bored stupid just standing around doing nothing all day. They will help you if you can't find a place, have trouble understanding something like I did with an ATM or just lost. Believe me you will get lost. Be aware that English is their second language and even though they learn it at school, some can't speak at all, and most are not very good. Talk slow and simple, smile and laugh and you can generally communicate. Often someone who can speak English will appear to help. I have found that if you need to exchange money the banks won't help, and western union won't help. You can only use an ATM. I used BDO ATM without issues. You will be able to use your visa card in a lot of places to pay so save your cash. Enjoy. It's an experience not to miss.
Negative: No place is perfect. The Philippines isn't a first world country so expect there will be little things that happen. But rest assured, one thing I have found, the Philippine people are very friendly and lovely. They will look after and help you as best they are able. Everything will work out for the best if you smile, be patient, and just enjoy.
